Although her future is dire as some cities still deal in slaves, he now knows where to start looking for her. Their lives will be changed forever. Their resolve will be tested. Their faith will be challenged. And the freedom they all love and took for granted will be in jeopardy. But in the end, they will face a more dangerous and powerful adversary than what they had been running from.

This book was an easy read with great flow. The characters were complex and described well. There are many different characters and each of his/her own thoughts and actions are explained very well. It's easy to understand the motivation of the characters. The story follows the time period. The story involves werewolves, elves, and humans. The story has a few unexpected moments and twists. We've all seen evil elves within literature. This is nothing new. Dark elves are a staple.
But these were different.
You see, regardless of the number of evil elves we find within the pages of books, they all share a few common traits. They're beautiful, they have a complex and even elegant society, and they make evil seem sexy.
Not these, though.
The elves within the pages of Full Moon Rising were beautiful, yes. They were also intelligent, as is the norm.
But they were revolting.
Their hatred of humans was so intense, brutal, and single minded that I felt more like I was reading about beautiful trolls then elves. I had absolutely no desire to get to know them. I knew they were beautiful, and I saw that they were graceful... yet my disgust with these creatures was so complete that I saw zero redeeming features within them.
Yet I kept hoping I was wrong about them. I held out hope for one elf in particular, dreaming that he'd be more human than the others.
The werewolf, on the other hand, I had no doubts about.
He was good, through and through. That is, as long as you overlook the fact that he can smell human blood over a mile away... and craves it. Or that in his wolf form he loses all ability to control his desire to rip people to shreds and eat to his heart's content. These things can be a bit problematic...
And yet, I still found that I could trust him.
Funny, that.
The humans, as well, had interesting qualities. They were always standing on the gray line between good and evil, trying their best to make decisions that they could live with.
Kinda like the rest of us.
The creatures and the world were very well fleshed out. The humans, though... not so much. There was too much telling, and not enough showing, as far as the human emotions were concerned.
Don't read this one looking for complex characters. Read it for the world it's set within a dark, awesome, and intriguing place. Even though I felt the characters were lacking, the world *more* than made up for that.

I will be honest—like I’m supposed to be—I have mixed feelings about this book. The thing is, when you write about common mythological creatures, such as werewolves or vampires, you have to bring something new to the table and I feel like that didn’t happen here. This was a very typical werewolf story, even down to the title Full Moon Rising. We all know wolves change on the full moon, we all know wolves have a dedicated pack mentality, we all know wolves tend to be protective of the ones close to them—all typical behavior, all featured in this book.
Now, just because the book was typical doesn’t mean it wasn’t entertaining. The prophecy cast an ominous shadow over much of the story and gave it that dark, supernatural aura that got me turning pages. The style of the author’s writing was almost old fashioned and gave the book a somewhat classic feel, especially in the descriptions which were beautiful and very detailed. I felt like I’d been taken into that world; I could perfectly imagine every character, setting, and action scene.
I also liked the entire cast and their interactions. I was happy the dialogue always fit their personalities. Each individual had a strength of their own which became prevalent as the story progressed. While I did find the pacing to be somewhat slow—probably due to the wordy yet beautiful details in the story—I felt it matched the overall style of writing and fit the story very well.
For the actual plot itself it was cool having a werewolf book told from the perspective of a Priest on the run. You usually get some teen romance novel with these sorts of genres. Maybe the Priest’s perspective was the “new” thing I felt the story lacked but in the end, it still didn’t add up to more than an OK book. Grammatically, everything was fine. Developmentally, everything was fine. Contextually, everything was fine. Creatively, it fell a little flat for me. BUT I think it has enough of that classic werewolf style to appeal to a number of old school supernatural nerds and fantasy readers.
I would recommend this book to any werewolf fan and those who like classic supernatural/fantasy novels. If you’ve got a taste for a little horror/violence then you might enjoy this too.
I don't usually read this genre but this one is a little different. I kept wondering what would happen next.
The ending was a surprise and I must admit I cried. Looking forward to number two in the trilogy.
I was so happy to read a story with werewolves that didn't have vampires. The werewolf vs vampires is so cliché! I enjoyed the different perspectives the book gives of werewolves. The dialogue is well written and the final chapters not typical and predictable like so many books I have read. The cover and layout of the book is well-especially compared to similar books that are of that genre.
